The unit review can be in the form of a two and a half minute Podcast or a 600 word review.
The software that can be used on the DELL Laptops for sound editing is "Audacity" - the latest version available is Version 1.2.6
from the website: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
The software is easy to use. It is important to "EXPORT" the Audacity file as a WAV file, so that when you send it as an email attachment, it can be played by the reviewer.
on the MacBook use "Garage Band".
|
For Mac users, in Garage Band, to "EXPORT" the Podcast, follow these steps:
Exporting a project as a podcast episode. You can export a project containing a podcast track as an enhanced podcast episode. The podcast track must be visible when you export the project. To export a project as a podcast episode:
If the podcast track is hidden, choose Track > Show Podcast Track.
Choose Share > “Export Podcast to Disk.”
The podcast track must be visible for this choice to appear.
In the Export dialog, type a name for the podcast, and browse to the location where you want to save it.
Choose a compression format from the Compress Using pop-up menu.
You can choose either MP3 or AAC compression. Enhanced podcasts must be compressed as AAC files.
Choose an audio quality setting from the Audio Settings pop-up menu.
Click Export. |
NOTE: IF you do not follow the instructions here and ensure that you EXPORT the Podcast (in other words, if you just "SAVE" the file), you will be sending an email attachment known as a "project" file. This file can only be played on the computer on which you saved the file, SO YOU CANNOT BE GRADED - YOU WILL ATTAIN AN "F" GRADE!
Exporting in Audacity results in an MP3 file, and Exporting in Garage Band results in an MP3 or AAC (iTunes) file. These can be played on any computer and most MP3 players.
