March 31

(Tuesday)

Warmup:

1) What is the volume of a cube with a side of 2 cm?

2) What is the area of the outside of same cube?

3) Where does a pressure push on the cube?

Discussion:

How did you find these answers?

If the pressure pushes everywhere what is the force exerted on the cube if the air pressure is 100000 Pa?

Drawing Nets:

How would you unfold this cube (shape A)?

How many different ways can you unfold a cube (shape A)?

What would shape B look like from the top, right, and front?

How many ways would you unfold shape B?

Looking at Shape C and drawing a nets.

Homework:

Making paper cubes of shapes A, B, C.

Warmup:

Introduce the project:

Read rubric

Show one picture

Explain expectations

Explain diagram

More Net Practice:

Homework:

1) Draw 2 nets for shapes D,E,F,H.

2) Construct 2 cubes from each net of shapes D,E,F,H.

3) Find the volume and surface area of shapes D,E,F,H..

April 13

(Monday)

Warmup:

An object looks like this (draw a picture of cuboid structure):

                  1)If the pressure is 112,000 pa, what is the    Force applied on the object;

                  2) If the objects mass is 280 kg, what is it’s density?

Collect and check homework:

Talk about "faces" of an object

Finding surface area using nets and faces.

Finding Volume using the Base and "pull" method

Making an object equation chart

Finding the Volume and Surface area of triangular prisms and pyramids.

Homework:

Build 1 triangular prism and 2 pyramids;

     1) Draw a net (need to measure)

     2) Find surface area each

     3) Find volume of each

Each students shape will be different.
